About Blauw Shack Media

Our name might sound strange, but every part of the name honors the patriarch of our family, Dad (Bruce VanderKolk).

“Blauw”

Dutch for “blue”. The family ancestry is from the Netherlands. Although we are not fresh “off the boat” (there are actually 3-4 generations since the emigrees from the Netherlands), the spirit of the Dutch is strong with our family.

Why Blue?

Ties in to the color of the wrist band color for prostate cancer (light blue) and bladder cancer (blue), two of the cancers that our father (Bruce VanderKolk) fought.

“Shack”

Bruce was raised on a dairy farm in southwestern Michigan. On the outskirts of the farm was timber, where there was a shack for the purpose of making maple syrup. The company logo is a drawing of the actual shack on the farm.

“Media”

We are more than a book publishing company. We will use any and all possible outlets to communicate our message to those needing to hear it: Books, articles, motivational speeches, blogging, video blogging, etc.
